Input properties and variables

You can compare input properties and Planning Engine (PE) variables for two scenarios, using the Input Properties and Variables panel. This panel is displayed when you click the menu icon next to the Planning Engine Scenarios section.

Input properties are calculated in the same way as a key value. They are summed over all resources and across all periods within the Planning Horizon. The sum is stored in the Money class property.

Note: Boolean input atomic properties are summed, where true = 1 and false = 0. The total represents the count of true values across all resources and periods.

When you click the menu icon, the Input Properties and Variables panel displays these options:

Show only different inputs
If this switch is set to On, the panel displays the input properties and variables that differ Scenario 1 from Scenario 2.
Note: By default, this switch is set to On.
Relevant to comparison category
If this switch is set to On, the panel displays input properties and the variables related to the selected comparison category for scenario 1 and scenario 2. If this switch is set to Off, all input properties and variables are displayed without applying the category filter.
Note: By default, this switch is set to On.

The Input Properties and Variables panel includes these sections:

  • Input Properties: Displays input atomic properties with names and values for Scenario 1 and Scenario 2.
Note: The input properties do not exist for the Compare KPIs category.
  • Variables: Displays input variables, with names and values for Scenario 1 and Scenario 2.

You can filter data based on the property or variable name. When you close the panel the original comparison panel with scenario selection is restored.

This table lists various messages displayed in the Input Properties and Variables panel:

If two scenarios have not supported input properties or variables for a comparison category (or all categories)
  • Input properties: No input properties available
  • Input variables: No input variables available
If a scenario has not supported input properties or variables for a comparison category (or all categories)
  • A specific property: n/a
  • A specific variable: n/a
If all compared values are identical

The selected scenarios are identical. Please turn off 'Show only different inputs' switch to display compared values.
