Application Variables
During macro or interface service execution, the application variable is replaced with the specified value, enabling the same macro or interface service to be reused in different cycles or planning engines.
To support specific business requirements, individual analytical cycles and planning engines can store overrides of the global application variable values. This enables variable values to be tailored to the requirements of a specific cycle or planning engine.
Planning Engines
Global application variables can be overridden at these levels within planning engines:
- Planning engine definition
- Planning engine cycle
- Planning engine
- Values are inherited hierarchically:
- A planning engine inherits values from the planning engine cycle.
- A planning engine cycle inherits values from the planning engine definition.
- A planning engine definition inherits values from the global application variables.
- The overridden value replaces the inherited value when a variable is overridden at any level.
Analytical Cycles
Global application variables can be overridden in the cycle definition. When a cycle period is created, application variable values are copied from the global application variables or from the cycle where overrides exist during a cycle period creation. These values become part of the cycle period version and cannot be modified during the cycle period.
