Highlighting in the Network Visualization

The Highlight Network option is used to identify various constraints and help in analyzing the root cause within the supply chain. The constraints include purchase issues, production capacity issues, safety stock issues, and transportation capacity issues. The Highlight Network option is displayed in the Network Location Overview screen. You can click this option to navigate to the Highlight Network screen.

Note: The Highlight Network option (bulb icon) is available only if the Product and Location selector values are specified.

You can define the rv_highlight_issues plansheet parameter to determine which issues are highlighted by default in the Network Visualization graph. Possible values:

All: Highlights all issue types.
Purchase: Highlights Maximum Purchase issues.
Production: Highlights Production Capacity issues.
Stock: Highlights Safety Stock issues.
Transportation: Highlights Transportation Capacity issues.
Discrete Process: Highlights process nodes that have discrete constraints.

Note: You can combine multiple issue types simultaneously in the rv_highlight_issues parameter. See Network visualization parameter.

If the rv_highlight_issues parameter is not defined or is disabled, issues are not highlighted. You must manually select these options on the Highlight Network screen:

Approach or exceed limits
- Maximum Purchase Issues: To view highlighted Supplier Allocation and Internal Supplier Allocation arrows in the Network Visualization graph. See Maximum Purchase Issues.
  Note: This option is enabled based on the existence of the property maximum purchase ratio of class Supplier Allocations.
- Production Capacity Issues: To view highlighted Processes nodes in the Network Visualization graph. See Production Capacity Issues.
  Note: This option is enabled based on the existence of the property load of class Resources.
- Safety Stock Issues: To view highlighted Product At Location nodes in the Network Visualization graph. See Safety Stock Issues.
  Note: This option is enabled based on the existence of the property safety stock ratio of class Products At Locations.
- Transportation Capacity Issues: To view highlighted Transportation arrows in the Network Visualization graph. See Transportation Capacity Issues.
  Note: This option is enabled based on the existence of the property maximum shipments tu ratio of class Routes.
Have discrete constraints
- Process nodes: To view highlighted Process nodes in the Network Visualization graph that have discrete constraints. See Process nodes with discrete constraints
  Note: This option is related to batch size and minimum batch size adjusted.

The bulb icon remains active when one or more options are selected within the Network Visualization graph. You can select multiple options in the Highlight Network screen. After you click Apply, the Network Visualization graph displays the highlighted graph components based on the options selected. The Network Visualization graph is not updated if you click Cancel without saving.
