Importing data in SCV

  1. Select Utilities > SCV Data Viewer. The SCV Data Viewer screen is displayed.
  2. Select a table or datasheet in the left-hand selection panel. The related data is displayed in the details panel.
  3. Click Import. The Import window is displayed.
    Note: This option is displayed, only if you have the Edit/ Import permission, and the source table is User, Inbox, or Core-table extension type.
  4. Specify this information:
    Type
    The type of field selected for the import. Possible values:
    • CSV
    • EXCEL
    Use Datasource
    Indicates if the import file is retrieved from a configured data source or uploaded through the browser.
    Note: 
    • By default, this switch is set to Off.
    • If this switch is On, the file is imported from the specified data source.
    • If this switch is set to Off, the import file is selected from the browser.
    Data Source
    The name of the data source from which the data is retrieved. Select from a list of all S3 and FTP data sources.
    Note: 
    • This field is enabled only when the Use Datasource switch is set to On.
    • File type data sources are not supported.
    File
    The name of the file used for importing.
    Note: 
    • If the Use Datasource switch is set to On, select from a list available files for the selected data source.
    • If the Use Datasource switch is set to Off, a browser file window is displayed, allowing you to browser and select a file from the local system.
    Sheet
    The sheet of the Excel file from which the data must be imported.
    Note: This field is displayed only if the value in the interface Type field is set to Excel.
    File Delimiter
    The character used to separate values in the CSV file. Possible values:
    • Comma
    • Tab
    • Pipe
    Note: This field is displayed only if the value in the interface Type field is set to CSV.
    Number format
    The number format used for validating numeric values during import to SCV database numeric fields. The same format can be applied during export to ensure numeric values conform to the defined format. Available syntax 0#.-
    Note: This field is displayed only if the value in the interface Type field is set to CSV.
    Date Format
    The date format to be validated when importing data to the date fields in the SCV database. Imported dates can have an optional time element by enclosing the date in square brackets []. The same format can be applied during export to ensure date values conform to the defined format. Accepted values: d M y H m s / - : [ ]

    Example syntax:

    • dd/MM/yyyy
    • yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm
    • yyyy-MM-dd [HH: mm:ss]
    Note: The month and hour indicators must be in upper case.
    Field Names In Header Row
    Indicates if the first row of the imported file must contain column header names.
    Reject All Rows if an Error occurs
    Indicates whether the import process must stop if an error is found. Possible scenarios:
    • On: The import process stops upon an error, and no values are imported.
    • Off: All rows are processed, and discarded rows with an error are logged in a discard file. The discard file can be found in the Audit log.
    Update mode
    Indicates if the imported records must be inserted or merged into the destination table. Possible values:
    • Insert: All records are considered new. If the record already exists, the record is rejected.
    • Merge: Existing records are updated. New records are inserted.
    Clear Destination Table Before Import
    Indicates whether the existing data in the destination table is deleted before the imported data is inserted. Possible values:
    • On: The existing data is deleted; the imported data is inserted.
    • Off: The imported data is added to the existing data.
  5. Click Run. A job manager screen is displayed, indicating the progress of the import.
