Business Areas
A Business Area (BA) is a partition that is used to define and configure data selection. Multiple BAs can be created to support business requirements.
BAs can be created from these data sources:
- SCV (Profile based)
- M3 (Division-Warehouse based)
Note: The interaction between plans from different business areas is not possible.
The configuration information of each BA is available on the Business Area Definition screen, which can be accessed from the menu. You must have appropriate permissions to view the Business Area Definition screen.
You can use the Business Area Definition screen to:
- View the configuration details of BAs that are created.
- Create a BA using the list menu option.
- Initialize any SCP module for the selected BA using the option. See Initialization Wizard.
- Activate or deactivate a BA using the or icon.
Note:
- Each BA has an Active or Inactive status. The status has a tooltip indicating the action that resulted in the displayed status.
- When a business area other than Global is selected, a status icon is displayed next to the business area name in the Navigation panel.
- A green icon indicates an Active status.
- A red icon indicates an Inactive status.
- When the selected business area is Inactive, a notification banner displays the inactive status and the reason for deactivation.
- Deactivating a BA requires confirmation and disables source system access and master data operations. However, you can continue to load user data and adjustments while the BA is inactive.
- You can reactivate the BA at any time from the Business Area Definition screen.
