Creating a situation

  1. Select SCP > (BA) > Configuration > Situations. The Situations screen is displayed.
  2. Click New. A list of fields is displayed.
  3. Specify this information:
    Name
    The name of the situation.
    Description
    The description of the situation.
    Display Name
    The name to be displayed for the situation.
    Note: If the value in this field is not specified, the application considers the Name field.
    Type
    The type of situation. Possible values:
    • No Forecast
    • Magnitude
    • Value
    Exception Value
    The type of exception value stored when a situation is created for a Planning Entity (PE). Possible values:
    • Percentage
    • Count
    • Value
    Severity
    The severity level of the situation. Possible values:
    • High
    • Medium
    • Low
    • Information
    Generation Trigger
    Determines when the situation is automatically calculated for a PE upon completion of an event. Possible values:
    • Generate Forecast
    • Tactical forecast generation
    • Strategic forecast generation
    • First forecast period change
    • Value Changed
    • Net forecast changed
    Note: The values displayed in the drop-down list vary based on the situation Type selected.
    Enabled
    Indicates whether the situation is active.
    Note: 
    • If this switch is enabled, the situation is created when the generation conditions are met.
    • If this switch is disabled, the created situations are not removed from PEs. However, additional situations cannot be created.
  4. Click the required creation rule from the list. The Rule Details screen is displayed.
  5. Modify the required information.
    Note: The situation creation rule fields vary based on the situation Type selected. See, No Forecast rule, Magnitude rule, and Value rule.
  6. Click Save. The creation rule details are updated, and the screen is closed.
  7. Click Save. The situation details and rules are saved.
Note: You can use this page to:
  • Modify details of an existing situation, using the Edit option by selecting the required situation.
  • Create a duplicate of an existing situation and modify the parameters as required, using the Duplicate option.
  • Delete the selected situations, using the Delete option.
