Planning entity selection

The Selection panel is displayed when you access the SIP Workbench screen.

When you first access the SIP Workbench screen, the Selection panel displays all Planning Entities(PEs). The result count is displayed.

The Work Area panel displays this message:

Select planning entity. To start generate a simulation, use the selection panel to find and select a planning entity.

You can use these options on the Selection panel:

  • Search: To specify the search parameters of the required Planning Entity (PE) or Aggregate Planning Entity (APE). The results are displayed as a list after you specify the search criteria and click Go.
  • Filter: To filter the PE or APE search results based on specified criteria, including locked PEs.
  • Advanced Search: To search for specific properties and attributes of PEs.
  • Close: To close the Selection panel.
  • Sort: To sort the PE or APE list (Ascending or Descending).
Note: This option is enabled only if the PE or APE list is displayed.

The PE or APE data is displayed in the Selection panel after you perform a search or apply a filter. The related PEs or APEs are listed based on the search or filter criteria.

The basic search displays results based on the attributes and properties of PEs.

  • A single-word search matches words that start with the specified text across the PE name, description, and other PE attributes and properties in the search index.
  • To search for partial text within a word, use a wildcard. For example, *rin* returns PEs containing rin, such as Tamarind.
  • Advanced search options can be used to search specific properties and attributes. The search uses the Lucene query syntax. For more information on constructing queries, see Advanced search.

In addition, PEs can be filtered based on certain criteria. See Setting filter criteria for planning entity.

Filters within the same group use the OR condition. Filters across different groups use the AND condition.

For example, selecting Status: Open and Status: Approved returns entities with either status.

The Selection panel displays a count of the search results when a search is performed. A card is displayed for each PE and APE that meets the selection criteria.

By default, the search results are ordered alphabetically by the PE or APE name.

Note: 
  • You can select to display 5, 10, 25, or 100 search records per page.
  • A maximum of 100 PE or APE cards can be displayed per page. When the search results exceed the specified number of records to display, you can use the Next and Previous options to move between pages.
  • When you select a PE or APE, the Work Area and Information panels are populated with the related information.
  • You can use the Next and Previous options on the Summary panel to move between the PEs in the list.

This information is displayed on each card:

  • PE/APE name. The dimensions are separated by " - " . For example, Tamarind Powder - B1.
  • PE/APE code. The dimensions are separated by " @ ". For example, 10140@B1.
  • PE/APE level name (for example, Item@Warehouse).
  • Label to identify if the card shows a PE or an APE.
  • An icon that displays PE relationships.
  • An icon and count that display the current number of situations for the PE or APE, if any.
  • PE status.
Note: 
  • The status is displayed only on PE cards and is not displayed on APE cards.
  • The Relationship option can be used to view related planning entities. For an APE, the related child PEs are displayed. For a PE, the related parent APEs are displayed.
