Time Axis

Use the Time Axis functionality to set the start, end date, and time for a production view. The time axis is the horizontal axis in the planning board. The time axis can contain segments for months, weeks, days, and parts of a day, right down to segments of 10 minutes. The Time Axis window is displayed when you click the My Horizon option from the toolbar.

These settings can be defined in the Time Axis window:
  • Horizon: The period that is displayed in the view. Batches are created on the planning board for this period. Batches outside the horizon are not displayed.
  • Work Area: A user-defined period for which a detailed schedule is planned within the horizon. The work area is displayed on the planning board by two orange bars. Automatic scheduling functions such as allocate, work only for batches in the work area. The dynamic information you view in inventory simulation, utilization and labor requirements, display only the data available in the work area. In the batches list, the data is initially limited to the work area.
The text displayed next to the work area section in the Time Axis window, indicates the type of restriction. If you have restricted work area access:
  • Views can be limited to current day, week or month and can have a start and end offset.
  • The work area cannot be expanded beyond the defined limits. However, you can reduce the work area.
  • The horizon duration can be adjusted beyond the defined limits. However, the horizon duration must include the restricted work area.
You can perform these actions in the restricted work area if you have the appropriate access (Admin):
  • Set limitations to access the work area for a user in the desktop client. This restriction applies to all models that the user can access within the tenant. If a user navigates between different model, encounters consistent work area restrictions in each model.
  • Set or update the restricted work area for all users, even if the other users also have an Admin role. When there is more than one admin, the last admin to set or edit the restricted work area determines the configuration, and the others must adhere to the latest changes.
