Batch allocation

Batches are sequenced based on the start time. You can also reallocate a batch to a resource within the resource group using the Allocate option. This option is displayed on the General toolbar when you select a process or tank batch on the Planning Board.

Note: The Allocate option is displayed only if:
  • You have the (IBP_AS_Scheduler) permission.
  • You enable the server-side allocate option from the desktop client. This option is displayed on the Features tab of the Global Preferences menu.
  • You select the required process or tank batches on the planning board.

The Allocate functionality can be used to determine the best resource based on the combination of resource capacity and availability, routing constrains, batch duration, transition time, enabling claim and utility claim. The Allocate window is displayed when you click the Allocate option. This window allows you to confirm the scope of the batch selection using one of these options:

  • Reallocate current selection: Allocates only the selected batches.
  • Include all batches within the work area for selected resource groups: Allocates all the batches in the work area within the resource groups of the selected batches.

When you click Apply, the selected batches are reallocated to the appropriate resources within the same resource group, and a confirmation message is displayed.

Note:
  • When the Allocation process runs for the selected batches:
    • The batches that are outside the logged-in users work area are not considered.
    • The downtime and enabling batches are not considered.
  • These batches cannot be allocated:
    • Locked batches.
    • Batches on combination resource group, because these batches already occupy all the resources in the resource group.
  • You can move a batch within the same resource group using the drag and drop feature. See, Batch Interactions.
