Next 12 months net forecast

The next 12 months net forecast summary statistic (sum-stat) is calculated as a sum of the next full 12 fiscal months net forecast.

If a Planning Entity (PE) or Aggregate Planning Entity (APE) has less than 12 months net forecast, only the available full months are considered in the calculation. The full month must align with the calendar definition for the Business Area (BA). For example, if the current period is FY23 M05 (24/04/2023 – 21/05/2023), FY23 M06 (22/05/2023 – 25/06/2023) and the Forecast From Date is 08/05/24, the sum-stat is calculated as the sum of the net forecast from FY23 M06 up to and including FY24 M05. However, FY23 M05 is not considered for the calculation, as this is not a full month.

The sum-stat is calculated when the net forecast is updated for a BA. This is calculated using Sales Units and Value, and is displayed on the Details tab of the Information panel, with these codes:

  • Next 12 months forecast – Sales Units (TMFS)
  • Next 12 months forecast – Value (TMFV)

The calculation considers the value specified in the Introduction Date or Discontinuation Date field for a PE or APE. For example, if a PE is set to be discontinued in 6 months, only the 6 months of forecast values are considered.

You can use the Lucene query to search for a range of sum-stats in the Selection panel. For example, if you specify the “sum_stats.TMFV:[250,000 TO 500,000]” query in a search, PEs or APEs with TMFV sum-stats values within the range of 250,000 and 500,000 are displayed in the Selection panel.

Note:
  • This sum-stat is displayed on the Details tab only after changes to the net forecast of the PE or APE is saved.
  • The next 12 months net forecast sum-stat is calculated for all the PE types, including reporting and forecasting APEs.
