Scheduling process batches

  1. Select the required process batches on the planning board.
  2. Select Schedule > Schedule Process Batches. The Schedule Process Batches window is displayed.
    Note:
    • The fields are displayed based on the features enabled on the Features tab of the Global Preferences screen.
    • The title of the Schedule process batches window displays type of batches scheduled. For example:
      • When you select batches from the planning board, the title displayed as Schedule process batches (selection).
      • When you access from the Create Inflow window for ordersof an end stage, the title displayed as Schedule process batches (end product batches).
      • When you access the Create Inflow window for coupled batches, the title displayed as Schedule process batches (coupled batches).
  3. Select the required value in the schedule batches field. Possible values:
    • As soon as possible
    • Just in time
  4. Select a start or finish time in the from or until field.

This field is displayed based on the value selected in the schedule batches field.

    Note:
    • If this field value is selected as other, you must specify the time within the work area. Else, the system does not provide a solution.
    • Downtime is determined based on the value specified in the start of first batch or end of last batch field.
  5. Select the order of the batch in the fixed sequence field, if required.
  6. Select the optimize sequence check box to identify the suitable order, if required.
Note: If this check box is selected, the Optimize tab is displayed.
  7. Specify this information:
    Time limit (seconds)
The duration for AI optimization to optimize the schedule.
    Balanced weights
If this check box is selected, the algorithm determines a set of objective weights automatically.
    User defined weights
If this check box is selected, you can define the weights based on requirements.
  8. Select the strict sequence (do not fill gaps) check box, to maintain the current sequence without gaps.
Note: If this check box is not selected:
    • The sequence can change for better process utilization.
    • The start where stopped (+ and - only) option must not be selected.
  9. Select the constraint in the not after or not before field.
    Note:
    • This field is displayed based on the value selected in the schedule batches field.
    • This field ensures batches are not placed beyond the selected bound.
  10. Select the keep within work area check box, to schedule batches within the work area.
  11. Select cycle, if defined.

Batches are scheduled based on the value selected in the schedule batches field.

    Note:
    • If enough time is not available to schedule all batches in the cycle, the remaining batches are scheduled outside the selected cycle.
    • If the always keep within cycle check box is selected, batches are scheduled within the selected cycle even if there is an overlap.
  12. Select the resource availability check box, to ensure that the resource availability is not exceeded when scheduling batches.
Note: The system does not consider batches when a resource is unavailable.
  13. Select the enabling batches check box, to enable resource capacity when scheduling batches.
  14. Select the utilities check box, to ensure utility capacity is not exceeded when optimizing the schedule.
Note: The system considers only critical utilities selected in the Utility window, which can be accessed from the Utilities screen of the Factory menu.
  15. Select the inventory constraint check box, to maintain stock levels within limits for specific decoupled products.
Note: This check box is applicable only for decoupled products with the enable inventory constraint option selected. This option is displayed on the Inventory Point tab of the Inventory menu.
  16. Select the keep allocation check box, to retain batches on the selected resource.
  17. Specify the resource allocation for selected batches in the allocate to field, if required.
  18. Click Apply to preview the effects on the planning board.
