Process batches scheduling overview
The Schedule Process Batches functionality enables you to schedule the process batches optimally onto resources without an overlap, adhering to various time constraints, and considering idle time. You can schedule batches automatically when creating batches using the
option. You can use the process batches without changing the existing batch sequence.
Note: You must enable the option before using the feature. This option is displayed on the Features tab of the Global Preferences screen.
These are the advantages of using the Schedule Process Batches feature:
- Considers the availability of utilities and enabling resources for optimal scheduling.
- Considers inventory constraints for decoupled products during the scheduling process.
- Enhances scheduling efficiency by minimizing key objectives, such as span, changeover time, setup, and cost.
- Improves throughput and resource efficiency by optimizing the sequence of process batches between multiple resources.
When using Schedule Process Batches, you can select the sequence of a batch for better optimization using these options:
- fixed sequence
- Predefined sequence ( )
- AI optimizer
If the system fails to provide a solution, an error message is displayed to indicate that the schedule cannot be improved. You can update input parameters and try again. The system does not provide a solution when:
- The batch selection is outside of the work area.
- The count of batches in the selection is greater than 100.
- The work area date range exceeds 15 days. The preferred date range is less than or equal to 7 days.
- There are multiple large transition matrices or complex rules during changeover setup optimization.
- The work area is very dense with limited available space when using additional constraints such as, resource availability, enabling, utility, and inventory.
