Planning Engine Cycle tab
The Planning Engine Cycle tab enables you to configure retention policies for planning engines. See, Planning Engine Retention Policy
You can specify this information on the Planning Engine Cycle tab:
- Auto delete historical planning periods
- Indicates whether historical planning engines outside the scope of the Periods to retain are automatically deleted when the
next planning engine is created. Possible values:
- On: Historical planning periods outside the scope of Periods to retain are deleted.
- Off: Historical planning periods are retained.
Note: By default, this switch is set to Off. - Periods to retain
- The number of historical planning periods that are retained. Note:
- Historical planning periods are Planning Engines that have a status of Completed or Published.
- If this value is not specified, historical planning periods are not deleted.
- If this value is set to 0, all historical planning periods are deleted.
- If this value is greater than 0, the specified number of historical periods are retained, all other planning periods are deleted.
- This field is enabled only when the On. switch is set to
- The planning periods are based on the planning engine calendar.
The global retention policy is applicable for all planning engine cycles, unless a planning engine cycle override is created. You can create an override for a specific planning engine cycle in the Planning Engine cycle overrides section. To create an override, you can click the option. The Planning engine cycle override screen is displayed.
You must specify this information:
- Planning engine cycle
- The name of the planning engine cycle for which the override is to be applied.Note: This field lists all available planning engine cycles that have no override defined.
- Auto delete historical planning periods
- Indicates whether historical planning engines outside the scope of the Periods to retain, and associated with the specified
Planning Engine Cycle are automatically deleted when the next planning engine is created.
Possible values:
- On: Historical planning periods outside the scope of Periods to retain are deleted.
- Off: Historical planning periods are retained.

The override data for the selected planning engine cycle is added to the Planning Engine cycle overrides section upon clicking .
A Planning Engine Cycle can only have one override defined. If a planning engine cycle is deleted, the overrides associated with that cycle are deleted. Changes made to the Planning Engine Cycle retention policy are recorded in the audit log.
- Delete the existing override using the option.
- Modify the existing override by drilling into the details.
