Planning Engine Retention Policy
The Planning Engine Cycle Retention policy determines the number of historical planning periods to be retained. This policy is applicable when the Next Planning Engine is initiated manually or using the NextPlanningEngine macro command. When a new Planning Engine is created, the historical planning engines (with the Completed and Published status) that do not meet the retention policy are deleted. The planning periods for retention is based on the current planning engines calendar, and not on the number of historical planning periods available. See, Planning Engine Cycle tab for more details.
For example, a planning Engine cycle contains the following planning engines:
- FY24 W02 (Completed or Published)
- FY24 W03 (Completed or Published)
- FY24 W04 (Completed or Published)
- FY24 W06 (Master, the current planning engine)
If the PE retention policy is set to 3 and the next PE is executed:
- The FY24 W07 PE is created.
- The FY24 W02, and FY24 W03 PEs are deleted.
- The retention policy of 3 means we need to retain FY24 W06,
FY24 W05, and FY24 W04. However, FY24
W05 does not exist, this results in 2 historical and the current PE retained as
follows:
- FY24 W04 (Completed or Published)
- FY24 W06 (Completed or Published)
- FY24 W07 (Master)
