Feature types

The feature is assigned with a type that indicates the severity and the actions required by the user.

This table list the various standard feature types:

Type Description Comments
1 - Zero impact This is a non-disruptive feature, that is enabled automatically. This feature requires no configuration or process changes. This type includes enhancements and bug fixes that do not require user input and do not change the behaviour of the software.
2 - Functional setting This is a non-disruptive feature, that is enabled automatically. This feature requires configuration changes to begin using the new feature. This type requires a configuration change, such as the setting of a parameter, or a permission to use the enhancement.
3 - Feature toggle (non-disruptive) reversible This is a non-disruptive feature, that is not enabled automatically. You can turn this feature on, analyse, and if required, disable the feature. This type does not affect any changes in process and can be enabled and disabled.
4 - Feature toggle (non-disruptive) This is a non-disruptive feature, that is not enabled automatically. This feature type cannot be disabled once enabled. This type does not cause any changes in process, once enabled. These features cannot be disabled.
5 - Feature toggle (disruptive) reversible This is a disruptive feature, that includes a change to the process. This feature is not enabled automatically. You can turn this feature on, analyse, and if required, disable the feature. This type can change the process, such as deprecating a feature, or adding restrictions to a feature where previously there were none. This feature type can be enabled and disabled.
6 - Feature toggle (disruptive) This is a disruptive feature, that includes a change to the process. This feature is not enabled automatically. This feature type cannot be disabled once enabled. This type can change the process, such as deprecating a feature, or adding restrictions to a feature where previously there were none. This feature type cannot be disabled once enabled.
7 - Immediate - Major release This is a disruptive feature available in a major release, that includes a process change. This feature is enabled automatically. This type typically involves any User Interface (UI) changes that cannot be toggled.
8 - Immediate - Any release This is a disruptive feature available in any release, that includes a process change. This feature is enabled automatically. This type typically involves a critical security update that is required immediately.

The Limited Availability features are not ready for major releases and are accessible only for beta testing or if Infor requests customer participation. These features are assigned a type during the limited availability phase and are displayed only on the Feature Updates screen, once you added the feature using the Limited Availability Features option.

-5 - LA Feature toggle (disruptive) reversible This is a disruptive Limited Availability feature, that includes a change to the process. This feature is not enabled automatically. You can enable this feature, analyse, and if required, disable the feature.

This is a limited availability feature, the equivalent to the main Type 5 - Feature toggle (disruptive) reversible.

This type can change the process, such as the deprecating a feature, or restricting certain changes that has been previously allowed. The feature can be both enabled and disabled.

-6 - LA Feature toggle (disruptive) This is a disruptive Limited Availability feature, that includes a change to the process. This feature is not enabled automatically. This feature type cannot be disabled once enabled.

This is a limited availability feature, the equivalent to the main Type 6 - Feature toggle (disruptive).

This type can change the process, such as the deprecating a feature, or adding restrictions to a feature where previously there were none. This feature type cannot be disabled once enabled.
