Magnitude rule

The Magnitude creation rule compares two values, to ensure that the 2 values are within an acceptable threshold. This rule can be configured to compare the following:
  • The recent history values with the recent forecast values for a specified period.
  • The same forecast type. This requires an offset to be defined for comparing against a historic version of the forecast.

This information is displayed on the Rule Details screen when the value of the situation Type field is set to Magnitude:

Creation Rule
Unique name of the creation rule for the current situation.
Note: The value in this field cannot be modified.
Description
The description of the creation rule.
Type
The type of situation.
Note: By default, this value is set to Magnitude and cannot be modified.
Threshold Type
The type of threshold.
Note: By default, this value is set to % and cannot be modified.
Creation Threshold
The threshold value for the creation rule.
Note: You can specify a value between 1 and 100.
Compare
The first data series used in the Magnitude test for comparison. Possible values:
  • Net Forecast
  • Tactical Forecast
  • Strategic Forecast
  • Freeze Forecast
  • Net History
Note: By default, this value is set to Net Forecast.
Time selector
The period for which the values are to be summed and used in the Magnitude test. Possible values:
  • Days
  • Weeks
  • Months
  • Years
Note: You must specify a positive integer in the input.
With
The second data series used in the Magnitude test for comparison. Possible values:
  • Net Forecast
  • Tactical Forecast
  • Strategic Forecast
  • Freeze Forecast
  • Net History
Note: By default, this value is set to Net Forecast.
From
An offset selector when comparing the same Forecast Type.
Note: 
  • You can specify a value between Period -1 and Period - 12.
  • This field is not available when comparing different forecast types.
