Exceptions tab

The Exceptions tab displays abnormal outputs from the statistical forecast engine which are part of historical data used to generate forecasts. Exceptions are generated based on the forecast engine algorithm used by the Planning Entity (PE) or Aggregate Planning Entity (APE). You can use the Exceptions Level selector to view exceptions at different forecast levels. Possible values:
  • All: Exceptions are displayed for all forecast levels.
Note: By default, all exceptions are displayed.
  • Tactical: Exceptions are displayed at the tactical forecast level.
  • Strategic: Exceptions are displayed at the strategic forecast level.

Exceptions are displayed in cards containing the details of each exception generated by the forecast engine for the PE or APE. Possible Exceptions are:

  • Changed History: Where history has been updated by the forecast generation.
  • Forecast Magnitude Error: Where a combined forecast is returned however, fails the forecast magnitude test.
  • Invalid Stat: Where the system failed to generate a statistical forecast.
  • Obsolescence: Where forecast tends to zero within the forecast horizon.
  • Outliers: A count of identified outliers.
  • Recent History: Where there is no history in the most recent periods.
  • Short History: Where the number of history period is less than or equal to the short history definition.
  • Step Change: A count of significant forecast level change in either direction.
  • Tracking Signal: A count of forecast level or growth increase where the system intervened to change the forecast level or growth as a step change.
