Using an integer

You can specify the integer on the Entity tab while creating an ASCII interface.
  1. Double-click the required attribute in the right pane. A Column window is displayed.
    Note:
    • You can define the lengths of numerical quantities in the integer window. Digits in excess of the specified lengths is truncated.
    • The header of the window varies based on the attribute when creating an ASCII interface. For example, if you selected the entity Outflow Rate, the title is displayed as column Outflow Rate.
    • The column number is defaulted from the Interface Entry window based on the order in which the entities are selected. However, this value can be modified.
  2. Select total length to determine the maximum number of characters to be exported and specify the number of characters to export in the length field.
    Note:
    • If the length value is not specified, the default length of 20 characters is used.
    • Alternatively, select partial length to define separately the maximum number of digits to the left and right of the decimal point and specify the number of digits. The excess digits are removed.
  3. Assign a character to be used for the decimal point, if you selected partial length and do not want to use the default value.
Note: This is mainly for European users that use commas for a decimal.
  4. Select the variable check box to enable the column to contain enough space as required.
Note: If this value is not selected, the defined column width is used. For example, if variable is not selected and the number of places it set at 2, and the quantity is 123, the data exported is 23. If variable is selected, the entire number is exported.
  5. Select the quoted value check box to specify quotes around the data, if you are interfacing with a system that requires inputs in the form value.
  6. Click OK. The Entity tab of the Interface Entry window is displayed.
