Editing calculation rules

To edit a calculation rule:

  1. Select Configuration > Common > Measures > Calculation Rules.
  2. Complete one of these actions as required:
    • To edit a calculation rule, click the appropriate Details icon, and in the details pane, click Edit.
    • To create a calculation rule that is based on an existing rule, select the appropriate rule and click Duplicate.
  3. For a predefined calculation rule (System defined), you can only specify this information:
    Calculation Sequence
Specify the calculation sequence. This is used to ensure calculation dependencies from other measures are correctly established prior to being used. The sequence is based on an integer value that indicates the order of calculation for rules in the module. The value of 1 is used first followed by the subsequent calculations.
Note: The value must be unique for each module.
  4. For a user-defined calculation rule with the (the System check box cleared), you can only specify this information:
    Tags
The tag linked to a calculation rule. Select from a list of pre-defined tags displayed in the Tags window. You can link one or more tags to a calculation rule. This option is used to group common elements, which can be linked to entities such as measures or worksheets.
    Calculation Scope

Indicates at which level of the dimension hierarchies the calculation is done, before being aggregated or prorated to other levels, if applicable.

    • All Elements: the calculation is performed at all levels of the dimension hierarchy.
    • All Base Elements: the calculation is performed at the base (lowest) levels of the dimension hierarchy and aggregated to other levels.
    • All Consolidated Elements: base data is aggregated to consolidated levels of the dimension hierarchy where the calculation is performed.
  5. Edit the rule's measures and operators as required.
  6. To save your changes, click Submit. Otherwise, click Discard Changes.
