Slicers area in an embedded worksheet
Slicers are used to filter pivot tables. Embedded worksheets contain an
additional area above the pivot table known as the slicers area. This is used to
determine the dimensions (left or top) that must be displayed on the pivot table.
Note: By default, the slicers area
shows all dimensions in the current cycle period that are not displayed on the pivot
(left or top dimensions).
For example, if these dimensions are defined for
the Normal cycle's Demand module: Item, Location, Period, Measure, Scenario, Item
Attribute 1 (ABC class), Item Attribute 2 (XYZ class). On a worksheet with Items,
Locations on Periods and rows, and Measures on columns, the slicers area contains the
dimensions: Scenario, ABC class, XYZ class. The dimension in the slicers area displays the dimension name, and the current or default element.
Slicers area navigation
- Click an element in the slicer, an element selector window is displayed. A sub-section of hierarchies for the current dimension, based on data security and the worksheet selection is displayed. This hierarchy is based on the worksheet parameters used to specify the context, if defined, or the data context for the module. You can expand or collapse the hierarchies and highlight a single element. However, you can select only one element in the slicers area.
- Use the search field to filter the elements. Clear the search and click the search icon, to revert to the original hierarchy.
- Click the dimension header to expand or collapse the slicers area.
- In the collapsed slicers view, the slicer dimension name and the current element label are displayed. For example, Scenarios: Demand-Baseline, ABC Class: A, XYZ Class: Existing.
- In the expanded slicers view, a row for each dimension contains two columns that display the dimension name and current element.
- Use the worksheet parameters to configure the valid element selections directly to the worksheet, for all dimensions. For example, the rv_item_passed parameter is used to specify the items that must be displayed, by overriding the corresponding data context selector and disabling the same.
Note: You cannot modify an element (if disabled) using the slicer for the dimension.
Displaying dimensions
You can also select the dimensions that must be displayed in the slicers area. Using the rv_slicers_hide worksheet parameter , you can specify the dimensions, that must not be displayed in the slicers area. This is done using the corresponding dimension letters, separated by a comma. For example, rv_slicers_hide = M, P, S, IA2.
In the Xpress template, the Items, Locations, and ABC Class (pivot item attribute 1) dimensions are displayed.
Note: If the parameter is not defined, all the dimensions are displayed.
