Adding scenarios to a cycle period

You can add a new scenario to a cycle period only if the Cycle Period status is set to Running.

To add a cycle period scenario:

  1. Select Process > Cycle Period > Cycle Period Details.
  2. Click the Scenario tab. The scenarios that are linked to the current cycle period are displayed.
  3. Click +.
    Note: This option is enabled only if the current cycle period is available with the status Running which indicates that no background process is in progress for the cycle period.
  4. Specify this information:
    Scenario Name
    The name of the scenario.
    Display Name
    The scenario name displayed in the application.
    Module
    The module for which the scenario is used.
    Linked to Scenario
    The planning scenario to which the current scenario is linked. For example, you can link a Demand scenario to a Finance scenario, to know on which financial targets the demand scenario is based.
    The conditions to link scenarios:
    • The Finance module cannot be linked to any scenarios.
    • If the Finance module is implemented, Demand can only be linked to a finance scenario for the cycle.
    • If the Demand module is implemented, Supply can only be linked to a demand scenario for the cycle. However, if the Finance module is implemented, Supply can be linked to a Finance scenario for the cycle.
    • If the Supply module is implemented, Integrated can only be linked to a supply scenario for the cycle. Otherwise, Integrated can be linked to a demand scenario, if the Demand module is implemented, or to a finance scenario, if only the Finance module is implemented.
    Note: In the Scenarios pane, the linked scenarios for different modules are displayed on the same row.
    Scenario Process
    Select a scenario process that specifies the process steps required to complete the scenario.
    Initialization Macro
    The macro used to initialize the data in the scenario.
    Note: If no value is specified, the scenario is created without specific data.
    Users
    The users who can access the scenario.
    Roles
    The role of the user who is authorized to access the scenario.
    Note: At lease one user or role must be assigned to a scenario.
    Automatically Edit
    Indicates if the scenario is automatically set to the Edit mode.
    Share with Default Users and Roles
    Indicated if the scenario can be accessed by all the authorized users.
    Note: This option is enabled, only if the Automatically Edit option is set to On.
    Share Users
    The users with whom the scenario is automatically shared when created.
    Share Roles
    The roles, the scenario is automatically shared with, on creation.
    Note: The Share Users and Share Roles options are enabled, only if the Automatically Edit option is set to On and the Share with Default Users and Roles option is set to Off.
    Lock Owner
    Indicates the user who is identified as the lock owner of the scenario.
    Note: This field is enabled only if the Automatically Edit option is set to On.
  5. Click Add. A new scenario structure is created and data initialization is started based on the specified initialization macro. Data is loaded and scenario processes are initiated. When the data initialization and background process is completed, the Available column displays a padlock icon on the Scenarios page and the scenario is available in worksheets. Audit log messages are created for the scenario.
