Scheduling process batches

  1. Select the required process batches on the planning board.
  2. Select Schedule > Schedule Process Batches. The Schedule process batches (selection) window is displayed.

The fields can be different based on your selection. As only existing batches are scheduled, you can click Apply to preview the results of the schedule batches operation. This preview only includes the selected batches, and not inflow or outflow batches.

Note: In the Title bar, the text in the brackets of the window displays the type of batches that are scheduled when you click OK. For example:
    • When you select batches to schedule on the planning board, the header reads as Schedule process batches (selection).
    • When you access this window from the Create Inflow window for orders of an end stage, the header reads as Schedule process batches (end product batches).
    • When you access this window from the Create Inflow window for coupled batches, the header reads as Schedule process batches (coupled batches).
  3. Select as soon as possible or just in time to schedule batches as early or as late as possible, from the schedule batches field. The most suitable resource from the resource group is selected.
  4. Select a starting or finishing time from the next field. This field can be from or until based on whether you selected as soon as possible or just in time in the previous step.
Note: If you select other, you can specify a date and time. During the calculation of the start of first batch or end of last batch option, downtime is considered.
  5. Define the order of batch placement using the sequence field, if required. This consists of the process step-defined sequence code, latest time, earliest time, the current sequence, and any other sequences you have defined.
    Note:
    • You can select a cycle, if defined. Batches are scheduled as soon as possible or just in time starting at the start or end of the cycle.
    • If enough time is not available to schedule all the batches in the cycle, the remaining batches are scheduled outside of the selected cycle.
    • If you select the always keep within cycle check box, batches are forced within the selected cycle even when this causes overlap.
  6. Select strict sequence (do not fill gaps) check box to fix the current sequence.
Note: If this check box is not selected, the sequence can be changed.
  7. Select keep allocation check box to retain batches on their current resource. Optionally, select allocate to to specify the resource allocation of selected or newly created batches.
  8. Click Apply to preview the effects on the planning board.
  9. Click OK to accept the changes.
Note: If you click Cancel, no change is applied to your selected batches.
