Using a duration

You can specify the duration on the Entity tab while creating an ASCII interface.
  1. Double-click the required attribute in the right pane. A Column window is displayed.
    Note:
    • The header of the window varies based on the attribute when creating an ASCII interface. For example, if you selected the entity Idle Time, the title is displayed as column Idle Time.
    • The column number is defaulted from the Interface Entry window based on the order in which the entities are selected. However, this value can be modified.
  2. Select a style from the list to determine the display format for hours and minutes.
  3. Select the include seconds check box to include seconds in the duration.
  4. Select the separator check box and specify a character that is used to separate the years from months and days.

    • The example and length at the bottom of the window updates automatically to display a duration value formatted according to the current settings.
  5. Select the quoted value check box to specify quotes around the data if you are interfacing with a system that requires inputs in the form value.
