Tank batches

A tank batch is an uninterrupted storage period in one tank resource for a certain quantity of product. Inflow comes from one or more coupled process batches which must be the same product. Outflow goes to one or more coupled process batches, which can consist of one or more products. Various small inflow and outflow periods can be represented in the planning board as one large segment.

You must create a tank batch where outflow is not coupled to batches as a tank contains a certain level of stock that must be considered when scheduling. This does not work for inline batches. You can specify the surplus quantity if the Allow Surplus in Tank Batches option is enabled in the relevant process step.

Note: There are some restrictions on buffer tanks when working with the solver.

On the Tank Batches overview window, you can view a selection of batches in the planning board, by selecting the required batches and clicking the Planning Board icon.

You can use these tabs in the Tank batch entry window:

  • General: To specify generic information about the tank batch.
  • Inventory Profile: To view tank level during batch inflow, outflow, or both, based on the option selected. You can also set default tank representation in each planning board view to view tank levels instead of batches.
  • Claim and Allocation: To assign resources and utilities required for this batch along with the related details.
  • Status Attributes: To use the same status for two different tank batches but have different status attributes.
  • Custom Fields: To specify values for various fields, that you may have defined when defining preferences.
