General tab

  1. Select as soon as possible or just in time from the schedule batches list.
Note: When scheduling batches, batches are not allocated. If you select batches that are on more than one resource, the batches are distributed for each resource.
  2. Select a starting or finishing time from the until or from list. This list varies based on the option that you have selected in the previous step.
    Note:
    • If you select other, you can specify a date and time.
    • Downtime is considered during the calculation of the start of first batch or end of last batch option.
  3. Use the sequence list to define the order of batch placement.
This list contains the sequence defined for process step such as sequence code, latest time, earliest time, current sequence, and other sequence (if defined).
  4. Use the not before and not after options to apply time restrictions.
Note: These restrictions are based on whether you require to schedule process batches as soon as possible or just in time.
  5. Select current time in the not before or not after list to define cycles, if required.
  6. Select the cycle check box and specify a cycle.
Process batches are scheduled as soon as possible or just in time starting at the beginning or end. If space is exhausted, batches can fall outside these periods.
Note: If you have selected the keep within cycle check box in the Distribute Process Batches window, batches are forced within the cycle even if overlap occurs.
  7. Select strict sequence (do not fill gaps) if you require the selected sequence not to be interrupted, even if the sequence contains gaps that are large enough for other batches to fit in.
  8. Select start where stopped ('+' and '-' only) to continue the sequence on a resource.
In this example, a sequence is defined on the sequence codes A, B, and C. The sequence code of the last batch on the resource is B.
    • If you select this check box, the sequence is C, A, B.
    • If you clear this check box, the sequence is A, B, C.
  9. Select link split batches to retain the split batches linked.
  10. Specify a value in the minutes field of the Min batch duration option.
Note: If the resulting batch is shorter than the specified value, the batch is not split.
