Specify this information in the Process Batches group section:
- allow surplus
- Select this check box if you require to make a minimum amount
regardless of the required quantity. Note: If this check box is selected, it enables you to specify an increment quantity.
- allow joining
- Select this check box if scheduling functions is associated with
process batches that are based on the same process step, to avoid setup that
is not required and changeovers. Note: If you selected the allow joining check box, you can select the (allow joining) within cycle check box and a cycle from the list.
- each inflow from at most one tank batch
- Select this check box if process batches can only have inflow from
one tank batch. Note: This option is only enabled when there is at least one inflow product from a coupled product group.
- outflow to at most one order
- Select this check box if process batches can only have outflow to one batch.
-
Note: This option is only enabled when there is an end item for this product.
- The minimum, increment, standard, equal quantities less than or equal to standard, and maximum quantity for the tank batch.
-
Note: For a tank batch, specify the standard quantity on the Resource Groups tab.

- allow joining
- Select this check box if
scheduling functions can be linked to the process batches that are based on the
same process step and stores the same product variant, to avoid setup process
and changeovers and increase the resource utilization.
Note: If this check box is selected, you can select the within cycle check box and a cycle from the list.
- inflow from at most one process batch
- Select this check box if you require to prevent a batch originating from one process from contaminating a batch originating from another process during tank storage. This is applicable only for coupled stages.
- outflow to at most one process batch
- Select this check box if tank batches can have outflow from one
process batch.
This image describes the effect on product flow of working with and without this option.
Most batch characteristics are determined by settings in the model. For example, if you select inflow from at most one process batch in the tank batches group of the coupled process steps entry, you cannot use the joining functionality to run quality control.
