Creating a process batch

This procedure is required to make decoupled batches and batches for which surplus is allowed. This does not work for inline batches. You must create batches for material deliveries using the inventory simulation functions.
  1. Select Batches > Process Batches > New. The New process batch window is displayed.
Optionally, click New from the Process Batches overview window.
Note: You can access the Process batches overview window by using one of these methods:
    • Select process batches and select Batches > Selection info. If you select batches in the planning board or in a batch overview window and you open the overview window, you can view the selected batches only.
    • Select Batches > Process batches for all process batches in the working area. There are two options, Standard and Alternative. The Alternative view provides more detailed information in a larger window.
    • Select the orders and press the Shift key and open the process batch overview window from the menu. The related batches are only displayed. You can find inflow batches of a selection of orders in the order overview window.
  2. Select a stage or a product from the corresponding list.
    Note:
    • You can specify a part of the product name in the product list. The product list displays only the product names that match the specified data.
    • The Process Steps section displays the related process steps, even if you have specified only part of the product name. The related process steps are the process steps for which outflow does not have to flow straight to a tank.
  3. Select a process step from the list that is displayed.
Note: You can sort the list of process steps by columns. To sort the list, select a column header.
  4. Replace the standard (or minimum if there is no standard) batch quantities displayed with actual values. Alternatively, specify the required quantity. Batch quantities are calculated using standard quantity as its basis. If it cannot come up with a perfect solution given the various constraints, another solution is proposed.
Note: Batch quantities are calculated using standard quantity as its basis. If the batch quantity is not appropriate due to the various constraints, another solution is proposed.
  5. Select a start time for the first batch to replace the default value.
Note: The default value is the beginning of the last batch in the output layout.
  6. Select the process in which the successive batches are to be scheduled. Possible values:
    • One after another, that is, side by side
    • A frequency that is expressed in hours
    • A frequency that is expressed in days, weeks, months, or years
  7. Allocate the process batch to an alternative resource in the Allocation area.
    Note:
    • If multiple resource groups are defined for the selected process step, you can select an alternative resource group in the resource group list.
    • If the current resource group is a choice group, you can select an alternative resource in the resource list.
  8. Click OK. The Process Batch Entry window is displayed.
  9. Specify the required information in the corresponding tabs.
  10. Click OK to save the changes and close the window. Optionally, continue specifying the values on the tabs of the window.
