Dragging batches
You can click and drag a batch on the planning board. However, locked batches cannot be dragged. If you drag batches within a specific time period or to a different time period, compatible resources and time links are calculated again. Hence, other batches are adjusted automatically. You can determine the warning signals to be received when creating a view. The warning signals are sent for batches associated with inflow or outflow.
This image shows the arrows indicating the earliest and latest time to which the batch can be dragged.
Red and green symbols are used in the resource axis of the planning board to indicate which other resources can be used for a selected batch. Dragging a batch to another resource assigns it that resource's standard changeover, although you need to recalculate changeovers. For example, a red symbol indicates that a tank batch cannot be moved to Tank 1 and a green symbol indicates that a tank batch can be moved to Tank 2. These symbols are displayed when you click a batch on the planning board.
Process batches can be dragged to a resource in another resource group when you press the Alt key and drag a batch. When performing this action, the batch is assigned to the next resource group after the current one, as defined in the process step. If you move batches to another resource or resource group, any manual modifications to the capacity, the setup, or the filling time are replaced by the capacity, setup, and filling time of the new resource group.
You can only move tank batches to other valid members of the same tank group. You cannot drag the tank batches in the specific time period.
When you drag batches in the planning board, changes in the network are updated while dragging. For example, flow source -> flow pushed through -> flow pushed, is called real time propagation.
These cursor symbols are used to provide additional information while moving a batch:
- Resource symbols - Display on the resource axis and indicate if the resource constraints match the batch characteristics.
- Drag symbols - Display at the sides of the batch and indicate the range in which a batch can be moved.
This table shows the symbols and their meanings:
