Creating a transition matrix

  1. Select Factory > Transition Matrices. The Transition Matrices overview window is displayed.
  2. Click New. The New Transition Matrix window is displayed.
  3. Assign the matrix a unique code.
  4. Select a matrix type.
  5. Click OK. The Transition Matrix Entry window is displayed.
  6. Specify a description in the entry window.
  7. Specify a value for idle time to specify the minimum period required between two batches for the resource to be considered idle.
Note: You can specify an idle time only if required (> 0), as this can have severe performance penalties for the Solver, when utility/enabling claim on changeover or setup is present.
  8. Add a maximum of 1000 changeover criteria by selecting the Add option. A new row and column is displayed in the matrix.
Note: You can select the Remove option to remove the entries that are not required. The value None cannot be deleted.
  9. Double-clicking in the cells to change the criterion names or row labels. This also changes the column label to match.
  10. Double-click the relevant cells to modify the changeover times in minutes.
Note: It is also possible to copy and paste data in the matrix, to and from spreadsheets, for example.
Note: You can click the table and select the Sort option to sort the criteria.
  11. Click OK to save the matrix and close the window.
