Updating content for new releases

The installer upgrades the SCP software; however, the latest content is not updated.

To update the application(s) data to the latest SCP release:

  1. Select Configuration > Load Template.
Note: See Load templates for available templates and the required order.
  2. Select the required file icon to load the downloaded template.
  3. Users may control whether certain elements of the entities imported are updated, by Enabling the following options:
    • Reset Display Name
    • Reset Enabled
    • Reset Cycle
  4. Click Save.

Entries in the file are appended to the existing settings. If the existing configuration data exists within the import file, the import file data is overwritten unless the element is an exception. For example, any measure records in the template file with names matching the existing measures overwrites the existing measure with the details in the file, to prevent the unique errors.

The exception to overwrite data is based on the predefined entities and properties in the template. If a template is loaded, overwriting allows the user to modify certain data without the data being reverted. See Reset Display Names, Reset Enabled and Reset Cycle which describes the process to force the fields to be updated with the values from the template, if required.

Any overrides in the configuration are not overwritten unless an override template is loaded. See Overrides.

It is recommended to complete the Cycle Periods with the Running status prior to commencing the upgrade. Else, the existing cycle period configuration may not be validated correctly against the new version. If this is not possible, you must use the Pause and Resume with Refresh’ options for the running cycle periods to apply updated configuration to the cycles, after the content is updated. Failure to do so, may result in errors while accessing worksheets using the new measures that are not available in the current, running cycle period.

You must perform these actions after the completion of the upgrade process:

  • Logout and logon to the application again to view the new version specific changes.
  • Analyze the new functions and grant permission for any roles, after the content is updated to ensure the required access.
  • Verify the custom configuration loaded from an earlier template against the latest version to consider additional options or enhancements. For example, if using a custom forecast engine based on an earlier Demand+ forecast engine, verify the latest version of the engine configuration for any additional settings or features that are enabled and not existing in the original or copied version.
