Updating content language

By default, the value of the Content Language field is set to the user’s default language, if defined in the user settings. Else, the value is set to English. The user can use the default language or select a different language.

If the value in the Content Language field is set to English, the Display Name field is populated for all the imported records with the Display Name value available in the template (template XML, tag <description>). For other languages, the Display Name is replaced with the appropriate translated content.

These are the possible scenarios while updating the content language:

  • If the language translation is not available, the Display Name in English is used in the template.
  • If the Display Name in English does not exist in the template for a record, the Display Name is populated with the name of the record.

Only one Content Language is supported for configuration at a time. If the user reloads the existing records with a different language, the existing Display Name of all the appropriate loaded records are replaced with the values in the selected language.

When changing the language, Reset Display Names must be set to On, to ensure all entities are updated with the selected language.
