Defining an expert rule
You can create an expert calculation rule, however, you are not required to define a measure for these rules. The values specified in the Filter field are used for the calculation and not for the measure. The rule is applicable to all the measures defined in the selected module.
To create a expert calculation rule in a module:
- Select Configuration > Common > Measures > Calculation Rules.
- Select New > Expert Rule.

Specify this information:
- Measure

Select the measure. This field is not applicable when you define an expert rule without a measure. The target is specified based on the values in the Filter field.
- Filter

Specify a filter, which is the target destination for the rule. This is a mandatory field, when the measure is not specified.
- Module

Select the cycle or cycle and module for which the rule is defined.
- Calculation Sequence

Specify the sequence in which the rule must be calculated. The sequence can also be used to validate the calculation rules.Note: You can only specify positive integer values.
- Tags
- The tag linked to a calculation rule. Select from a list of pre-defined tags displayed in the Tags window. You can link one or more tags to a calculation rule. This option is used to group common elements, which can be linked to entities such as measures or worksheets.
- System
- If this check box is selected, the calculation rule is a system defined rule.
- Calculation Scope
- Set the hierarchical level at which the calculation must be
executed. These are the options:
- All Elements
- All Consolidated Elements
- All Base Elements
- Expert Rule
- Specify the calculation for the rule. This is a mandatory
field.
Note: The expert rules are validated by . Invalid rules are disabled and not added to the data.
- Click Submit.
