Optimization (PE) definition Variable Overrides

Planning Engine (PE) definitions, used in Supply optimization, now support Variable Overrides.

This benefits customers through extensibility of standard content by modelers, allowing adjustments to default variable values without having to customize the standard definition. It allows overriding a variable value in a standard Planning Engine definition, thus this applies to all new plans created from that definition; thus, setting a new customer default. For example, to turn on the solver switch Allow Backorders in the PE definition for Supply Chain Optimization (SP_SCO) delivered in the standard content.

Variable Overrides are maintained when appending new versions of the standard content. Overrides are included in the extension template, when exporting overrides, for migrating to another instance or tenant.

Note: By default, this feature is enabled, however to ensure that variable values from the PE definition are applied in optimizations, ensure the application variable scv_apsco_use_internal_variables = 1 for that PE. A new role or privilege is not required to access this feature. It is available to those users with existing edit access to Planning Engine Definitions.
