Creating next Planning Engine

You can create the next Planning Engine using an existing Planning Engine. The existing Planning Engine must be associated with a Planning Engine Cycle and the status is set to Running or Master. The new Planning Engine is based on the selected Planning Engine.

By default, the Planning Engine Definition of the current planning engine is used for the new planning engine. You can also refresh the Planning Engine Definition during the creation process.

  1. Select Process > Planning Engine. The list of planning engines is displayed.
  2. Select the required planning engine to access the details page.
  3. Select Process > Next Planning Engine. The Next Planning Engine window is displayed.
  4. Specify this information:
    Cycle
    The cycle name of the current planning engine.
    Planning Engine Name
    The name of the current planning engine.
    Next Planning Engine Name
    The name of the next Planning Engine.
    Note: .
    • By default, this value is set to Cycle.Next Period. However, you can specify a new name.
    • If this value is not specified, the Cycle.Next Period is used.
    Next Planning Engine Display Name
    The name to be displayed for the next Planning Engine.
    Note: 
    • By default, the value is set to the display name of the previous Planning Engine.
    • If this value is not specified, the Name is considered as Display Name.
    Next Period
    The period for which the new Planning Engine is created.
    Note: The value is derived as the next period available in the calendar defined against the planning engine at the specified level (or base level if not specified).
    Refresh Planning Engine Definition
    If this option is set to On, the Planning Engine Definition used in the Planning Engine is refreshed from the configured Planning Engine Definition.
    If this option is set to Off, the Planning Engine Definition stored in the Planning Engine is used to create the next Planning engine.
  5. Click Run. The Planning Engine Definition status is validated if Refresh Planning Engine Definition is set to On. This error message is displayed if the Planning Engine Definition is invalid:Cannot Create Next Planning Engine. Planning Engine Definition is invalid.
    Note: 
    • On successful validation, the next Planning Engine is created for the cycle and the status is set to Master.
    • The status of the Planning Engine used to create the next Planning Engine is set to Published.
    • The status of other Planning Engine (if any) with Running or Master status in the same cycle are set to Completed.
