Default value and validation rules
When you select a Data Type from the Create Price Change Attribute page, Price Management displays a Default Value field that is specific to that attribute type. After the attribute is created, the Default Value is what is displayed in the user interface when the price attribute is used. You must configure the Default Value for the data type you select to successfully create the price change attribute.
Several data types allow you to apply additional properties called Validation Rules to the price change attribute. The rules you configure for the attribute restrict the values you can specify for the attribute in the user interface. For example, if you select a Data Type of Integer, you can add a rule so that the application accepts only positive numbers.
Data type | Default value | Validation rules |
---|---|---|
Boolean | Select the default value to Yes or No/Checked or Unchecked. | N/A |
Decimal | Specify the default value to a decimal number. |
|
Date | Select a default date from the Choose Date list. |
|
Date Time | Select a default date and time from the Choose Date list. |
|
Integer | Specify the default value to a whole number. |

Location Level | Select the default location level for the attribute from the Select Option list. | N/A |

After creating a price change attribute, the attribute can be used in the user interface and applied to price changes. When you use a configured price change attribute during price change creation, Price Management displays the specified Default Value for that attribute field.
