Search queries in Dynamic Search

Dynamic search evaluates user-entered keywords and matches them against supported item fields to return results. Dynamic search supports two types of queries:
  • Single Field query
  • Multiple Words query

Search results based on Single Field queries

Single Field queries evaluate the entire search keyword against a specific item field. For example, when a user searches for a keyword that matches an item number, the Item Number query can return results because it searches at the item number field. If the search keyword shows across multiple item fields, a Single Field query does not return the item. This occurs because the query requires the full keyword to exist in only one field.

Search results based on Multiple Words query

Multiple Words query evaluates each term in the search keyword across multiple supported item fields. This query can return items even when the terms come from different fields. For example, if a user searches for a keyword that include both an item number and an item name, the Multiple Words query evaluates each word across all supported item fields and returns matching items accordingly.

You can configure the Multiple Words query in the Relevancy Rules in the Business Center by using either AND operator or the OR operator.
