Do not reorder items

An item is considered discontinued when it is set to Do Not Reorder in all warehouses within the user’s priority warehouse group. If at least one warehouse is set to Open, the item is not considered discontinued. In the Business Center, users can view the ERP-replicated item status for each warehouse on the Item Details page, under the Warehouses section in the Item Warehouse Status column.

In the web shop, users can identify discontinued items through a visual indicator when their role includes the Discontinued Item Indicator feature element. Users can also view the remaining quantity for discontinued items when their role includes the Discontinued Item Validation feature element.

If users specifies a quantity that exceeds the remaining quantity, the web shop notifies them of the available remaining quantity. For discontinued items sold in multiples, validation also considers the modular quantity setting. When users select an alternate unit of measure, the remaining quantity is displayed in that unit.

Other considerations and limitations

These considerations and limitations apply to Do Not Reorder items:

  • Remaining quantity validation uses the recommended, warning-only approach. Users can continue with Do Not Reorder items in the cart if they choose to proceed.
  • Users can add a quantity to the cart that exceeds the remaining available quantity. However, they may be prevented from proceeding on checkout during order simulation when the ERP validates the available inventory.
  • The Allow Multiple Lines per Item feature element is not supported for Do Not Reorder items. This limitation avoids complex validation scenarios when checking the remaining quantity across multiple cart lines for the same item.
  • For kit items, the application validates only at the kit level. If one of the kit components is marked as Do Not Reorder, the application cannot validate the component. Rhythm for Commerce can validate the kit only when the kit itself is marked as Do Not Reorder including its remaining quantity.
  • The discontinued indicator is not displayed in these areas:

    • Order Guide
    • Order Approval Details
    • Order Approval List
    • Request Quote
    • Quote Details
    • Quote List
    • Style item setup, when the Application.Style Items Enabled application property is set to true. When Application.Style Items Enabled is set to true, SKUs are grouped under a style parent. If a discontinued SKU is selected through the SKU selector or Style Matrix, the discontinued item indicator is not displayed and remaining quantity validation does not apply.
  • The remaining quantity validation for discontinued items is not applied in these areas:
