Synonym search rules

You can define two types of Synonym search:

One way

A one-way synonym search type works in one direction to produce search results.

For example, 0.5 is a one-way synonym to ½ ( ½ -> 0.5). When a user searches for ½, it triggers a search for its one-way synonym 0.5. However, searching for 0.5 does not trigger a search for ½.

Two way

A two-way synonym is a group of related terms that will produce the same search results for all terms defined in the group.

For example, tap, faucet, valve, spout, and spigot (tap; faucet; valve; spout; spigot) are two-way synonyms. When a user searches the term faucet, the search result will return items containing tap, faucet, valve, spout, and spigot.
