Upload file to add items to cart using GenAI
You can add items to the shopping cart by uploading an unformatted file. GenAI extracts the item numbers and quantities, if available. To enable this feature, you must assign the user to a role that includes the Order File Upload and GenAI Order File Upload feature element. Complete this task in the Business Center. The file must meet these requirements:
- The file must be one of the following types: JPG, JPEG, PNG, DOCX, HTML, TXT, PDF, MD, DOC, XLSX, or XLS. If the uploaded file is a CSV, GenAI is not used and the Order File Upload functionality applies.
- Specify a maximum file size of 3.75 MB.
- Include at least one item number in the file.
- If style items are included, use the item number for the individual SKU. Do not use the item number of the parent item.
- You can use the Ordering.File Upload OrderLine Limit application property in the Business Center to control the number of order lines that can be extracted.
Valid items are automatically added to the cart with a GenAI icon, which indicates that the item was extracted using GenAI. If only the item number is extracted, the item is added to the cart with a default quantity of one. If the quantity is also extracted, the specified quantity is used.
If the uploaded file contains errors, you are notified by editable fields that show the items with errors, such as invalid item numbers. You must correct the errors before you can add the items to the cart. If you navigate away from the Shopping Cart page before correcting the errors, the items are removed from the Shopping Cart page.
If you sell items in modular quantities, you are notified if the quantity extracted by GenAI is incorrect. For example, if you sell items in multiples of two and a quantity of three is extracted, the item opens in an editable field and a revised quantity is suggested. Depending on how the Items.Enable ModularQuantity Check tenant application property is configured, you can add incorrect modular quantities to the cart.
Other considerations and limitations
- When using devices, uploading from any cloud drive such as OneDrive, Google Drive, and other cloud drives, returns a Something went wrong error. We recommend uploading from local storage on the device.
- GenAI cannot process images embedded in a PDF file. To extract items from an image, upload the image directly. GenAI extracts only the text from a PDF file.
- If the uploaded file exceeds the Order Line Limit, none of the extracted items are added to the cart. This behavior also applies to Order File Upload. Before uploading a file, the order line limit is displayed to inform you.
- The GenAI icon, which indicates that the item was extracted using GenAI, is visible only in the shopping cart.
- If you edit an item outside the shopping cart after it was added using GenAI, the GenAI icon is removed.
- If GenAI extracts an invalid item number, the item opens in an editable field. If you edit the item number or quantity to be valid and add it to the cart, the GenAI icon is not shown on the order line.
