Feature types
Features are divided into six types:
- 1 - Zero Impact
- Feature enhancements not requiring any training or configuration and non-user disruptive. This type of change has no controlling setting and is included in any update. These features are delivered in a Feature or Service release and delivered auto enabled.
- 2 - Functional Setting
- Features controlled by setting or parameters in a controlling program. These features can serve as a new standalone function. These features are only used if the feature toggle cannot be used. These are only delivered in a Feature release and delivered auto enabled.
- 3 - Feature toggle
- Features controlled by a feature toggle during a transition period with a minimum 6 months. The removal of toggle is synced with a Feature release. These features are only delivered in a Feature release and delivered switched off.
- 4 - Feature toggle, process change
- Features causing mandatory process change, controlled by a feature toggle during a transition period with minimum of 6 months. The removal of toggle is synced with the Feature release. These features are only delivered in a Feature release and delivered swtiched off.
- 5 - Immediate, feature version
- Features causing mandatory process change. These are always planned with a Feature release. These features are only used if the feature toggle cannot be used. These are only delivered in a Feature release and delivered auto enabled.
- 6 - Immediate, any version
- Features causing mandatory process change and must be immediately released. These features are normally used for Regulatory and Statutory updates. These features are only used if feature toggle cannot be used. These are delivered in a Feature or Service release and delivered auto enabled.
