Creating campaigns and promotions in the ERP

If the promotion includes a discount or other benefit, you must use the ERP to create the promotion. To send information about the promotion from the ERP to Rhythm Commerce, the ERP must generate the SyncPromotion BOD.

If you offer price breaks on items to individual customers, you cannot also offer them a discount on the same item. When you create a promotion, ensure that the customers that can see the promotion do not have price breaks for the item in the promotion.

You can also use the ERP to create featured item promotions. To create a feature item promotion in the ERP, use the ERP to set the discount percentage for the items to zero.

In the ERP, create the promotion. See the documentation for your ERP for details about creating promotions.

Note: Ensure that the promotion that you create uses the same currency as the customers to whom you intend to offer the promotion. If you are running the same promotion in more than one country, you must create separate instances of the promotion.
After the Rhythm Commerce processes the SyncPromotion BOD, these actions take place in the Business Center:
- A promotion is created.
- A campaign that contains the promotion is created. If the promotion has validity dates, the same dates are used for the campaign.
- A user segment is created for the campaign.
In the Business Center, edit the promotion and campaign information. You can add images, set terms and conditions, and specify the duration of the promotion or campaign.

Optionally, in the Business Center add a ribbon tag that is displayed on items in the campaign.

Note: If you display ribbons on products in the promotion, the ribbon remains on the product after the promotion has expired. This issue will be fixed in a later release.
