Using an Excel file to update attribute values

Before you import an Excel file, ensure that you have selected the correct accounting entity. If you import a file into the incorrect accounting entity, then you could lose data.
  1. Create an Excel file.
  2. Prepare the header row:
    1. In cell A1, specify Entity_ID.
    2. In the other cells in row A, specify the IDs of the attributes that you are importing. If an attribute is not localized, specify only the attribute ID. If an attribute is localized, use this format to include the locale code: AttributeID[LocaleCode]. For example, specify color[sv-SE].
  3. Prepare a data row:
    1. In cell A2, specify the ID of an entity for which you are importing attribute values.
    2. In the remaining cells in row 2, specify the attribute values. If you do not want to import information for an attribute, or the attribute is not applicable to the entity, leave it blank.
If you are importing an enumeration attribute, specify the key of the value that you want to import. Do not specify the value itself. If the attribute type supports the selection of more than one enumeration value, separate the values with a semicolon.
  4. Repeat step 3 for other entities.
  5. Save the Excel file.
  6. Import the Excel file.
    1. Sign in to PIM.
    2. If multiple accounting entities are available in PIM, ensure that you have selected the accounting entity that you want to use.
    3. On the dashboard, click Import / Export.
    4. Click Import.
    5. In the Import to Entity Type field, select the top-level entity type of the entities in the import file.
    6. In the Attach File field, click the browse button and select the Excel file that you are importing.
    7. Click Import.
