Adding defined attributes

  1. On the dashboard, click Entity Types.
  2. If multiple accounting entities are available in PIM, ensure that you have selected the accounting entity that you want to use.
  3. In the records pane, click the entity type that you are editing.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Expand the Defined section.
  6. Click Add Attribute. The Add Attribute pane is opened.
  7. Click the Attribute tab.
  8. Specify this information:
    Name
    Specify the name of the attribute.
    ID
    Specify an ID for the attribute. The ID must be unique within the entity type hierarchy. You cannot use the same attribute ID in the entity type's parent entity type, child entity type, or sibling entity type.

    After you specify an ID and tab out of the field, the ID is validated. If the ID is unique and eligible for use, then the ID field is highlighted in green, and this message is displayed: This attribute ID is available. If the ID is not unique and is not eligible for use, then the field is highlighted in red, and this message is displayed: Attribute ID already exists.

    Data Type
    Specify the type of information that can be added. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
    Text A field that can accept a single line of text.
    Text area A larger text field that can accept line breaks.
    HTML A field that accepts basic HTML formatting. Use this type to create formatted text, such as bold text or italic text.
    Number A field that accepts numeric values only.
    External Link A field that accepts a URL.
    Image file An image file. Users can upload files in these formats: .png, .jpg, and .jpeg.
    Document File A document. Users can upload files in .pdf format. You cannot map document file attributes to BOD elements.
    Enumeration A predefined list of values. After you select Enumeration in the Data Type field, select the name of the enumeration type in the Enumeration Type field.

    Description
    Optionally, specify a description of this attribute. For example, you can provide information about how the attribute is used.
    Source BOD Element Mapping
    Optionally, specify the ItemMaster BOD element that contains the data for this attribute. For example, you could link a Net Weight attribute to /ItemMasterHeader/PackagingUnit/NetWeightMeasure. When an entity for the entity type is replicated from the ERP, the value in the BOD element is inserted in the attribute field.

    Note: BOD mapping is not supported for Enumeration data types.
    Bi-directional
    If Infor PIM is set up to send outbound BODs to an ERP, select this check box to use the same BOD mapping for outbound BODs as is used for inbound BODs. After you select this check box, the value that you specified in the Source BOD Element Mapping field is inserted in the Destination BOD Element Mapping field. The Destination BOD Element Mapping field is
    Note: While Infor PIM can send an outbound BOD, ERPs are not yet capable of consuming the BOD.
    Destination BOD Element Mapping
    If you select the Bi-directional check box, the value that is specified in the Source BOD Element Mapping field is inserted in this field. Otherwise, leave this field blank. the ability to specify different mappings for inbound and outbound BODs is not yet supported.
    Note: While Infor PIM can send an outbound BOD, ERPs are not yet capable of consuming the BOD.
    This attribute adds to completeness level
    If this attribute must be populated for the entity to be fully enriched, then select this check box.

    If this check box is selected, then the Completeness column is displayed in the entities list.

    Required Field
    Slide the switch to the right to require users to specify information for this attribute when they enrich products. This setting is available only if you do not enable localization. If you turn on this switch, then the Read Only switch is turned off.
    Read Only
    Use this setting when PIM is integrated with an ERP. Turn on the switch to make the attribute read-only. When an attribute is read-only, the attribute value can only be updated through replication of the ItemMaster BOD. Users cannot manually enter a value.

    If you turn on this switch, then the Required Field switch is turned off.

    If users can manually specify values for this attribute, then slide the switch to the left. If this attribute is also mapped to an ERP, then users can overwrite the value that is replicated from the ERP. If a user manually enters a value, then the value that the user entered is retained if entities are re-synced with the ERP.

    Localization
    If you use multiple languages and locales, turn on this switch to enable localization for this attribute. When localization is enabled, users can specify different values for each locale.

    If you enable localizations, then the Required Field is disabled. You cannot require values for localized attributes.

    Turn off this switch if one of these conditions is true:
    • You do not use multiple languages
    • This attribute does not require localization
    • The attribute has a data type of Enumeration. Localized values are provided during the setup of Enumeration data types.
    If you do not use multiple languages or if this attribute does not require localization, then slide the switch to the left.

    Exclude From Publish
    To store information for this attribute in PIM only, slide the switch to the right. Attribute information that is stored in PIM only is not replicated to the Business Center and is not displayed in the web shop.

    To replicate information for this attribute to the Business Center, slide the switch to the left. Information that is available in the Business Center can be displayed in the web shop.

    Note: After you save the attribute, you cannot change the Exclude From Publish setting. Ensure that this switch is set correctly before you save the attribute.
  9. If more than one locale is available in your tenant, then click the Translations tab. Use this tab to specify translations for the name and description of the attribute.
  10. Specify this information:
    Select Locale
    Click the arrow and select the locale for which you are providing translations.
    Name
    Specify a translation for the name of the attribute.
    Description
    Specify a translation for the description of the attribute.
  11. Click Add To List.
  12. Click Apply.
