Style items

To add style items to the shopping cart, web shop visitors can use the style SKU selector, the style matrix, or both. Use the Style SKU Selector and Style Matrix feature elements to determine how users order style items.

Style SKU selector

When users are assigned to a role where the Style SKU Selector feature element is enabled, then users select the style item that they want to purchase from drop-down menus. One drop-down menu is displayed for each style dimension. Users can add one style SKU at a time to the cart.

If swatches are set up, then users select the color of an item by clicking the swatch instead of using a drop-down menu.

When a user selects on option from a drop-down menu or swatch, the other drop-down menus are updated based on availability. For example, the style item has dimensions of Fabric and Size. If fabric Cotton is available in sizes Small and Large only, then users cannot select Medium from the Size menu if they have already selected Cotton from the Fabric drop-down menu.

When users click the last drop-down to make a selection, stock level information is displayed. For example, the style item has dimensions of Fabric, Size, and Color. If a user selects Cotton in the Fabric drop-down menu and the Red color swatch, then stock level information is displayed in the Sizes drop-down menu. If available to promise functionality is set up, then the availability date is displayed in the Sizes drop-down menu.

After users select a valid combination, pricing is updated to show information for the selected SKU.

Style matrix

When users are assigned to a role where the Style Matrix feature element is enabled, then users can select multiple SKUs in a matrix and add them to the cart simultaneously.

If an item has one feature, such as size, the a table with a single column is displayed. In each cell, the user specifies the number of each style to order.

If an item has two features, such as size and color, then rows and columns are displayed. The options for one feature make up the rows of the table. The options for the other feature make up the columns. In each table cell, the user specifies the number of each style to order.

If an item has three features, such as size, color, and length, then a drop-down menu is displayed. Users first select an option from the drop-down menu and then use the table to specify quantities. Users must add the items to the cart before selecting another option from the drop-down menu.

If swatches are set up for an item and users are viewing the web shop on a desktop, then users can click a swatch to select a color. After users click a swatch, the column or row for the color in the style matrix is highlighted, provided that the SKU is available.

Style SKU selector and style matrix

If you assign a user to a role where both the Style SKU Selector and Style Matrix feature elements are enabled, the users can order style from the drop-down menus or from the style matrix. The style dimension drop-down menus are displayed by default. To use the style matrix to order items, users turn on the Order in bulk switch.
