Beginning a search

If the search box is not displayed by default, users click the magnifying glass in the Dynamic Search widget.

Depending on the widget configuration, a category field is displayed. Users can click the arrow and select a top-level category from a list, or they can click a category in the category navigation panel on the Product List page. If a category is selected, only results that match products in the selected category are displayed in the search results.

Users then enter a search term. Before users press Enter, the Dynamic Search widget shows this information if an exact match of the search term is found:
  • Top products. The top six relevant products that match the search criteria are displayed.
  • Top categories. If the Dynamic Search widget is configured to show top categories, then the top categories that are associated with the search results are displayed.
  • Brands. If the Dynamic Search widget is configured to show brands, then the top brands that are associated with the search results are displayed.

If Did You Mean functionality is enabled in the Business Center, then alternate search terms are suggested if an exact match is not found. The top six relevant products that match the first alternative search term are displayed. Users can click other alternative search terms to update the results. Depending on the Dynamic Search widget configuration, categories and brands are also displayed.
