Configuring codes

  1. On the Business Center home page, select Application Setup > Codes.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Specify this information:
    Code
Specify the code. Often, there are several codes of each type. Each of these usually represents a specific value of the specified code type. For code types that have more than one code, the code setting must be unique for that type. For some types of codes, the value you specify here is the code’s most important setting. For other types, it is simply an internal label that displays in the Business Center, which might be referenced as a key value (combined with the code type) in other tables of the database.
    Code Type
Select a code type. Each code is assigned to a specific type, which controls how the code is used. Most features that use the Code table are programmed to search on this field. Therefore, the value that you specify here must match the value expected by the relevant feature.
    Sorting Order
Provide a numeric value to specify the sorting order. For code types that have several entries in the codes list (each representing different values for that type), you can establish a sort order. This is useful for code types that are used to create a list of options. For single-value code types, you can ignore this setting.
  4. In the Texts area, specify code text for each available language.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Click Save.

Use the search form to find the code that you can edit. The form for editing a code is identical to the one for creating a new code, except that you are not able to change the code name and type.
