Authorized users

The authorized user functionality in the Rhythm for Civics CDR portal is designed to allow portal users to act on behalf of organizations, such as construction companies, rather than in their own names, such as when homeowners submit applications.

For example, a large scale project by a development company typically requires numerous permits of different types. The permit applications are all in the company's name, but the company might have multiple employees and contractors working with them. To manage the company's applications in Rhythm for Civics, multiple users must be able to access the company's instruments and act in the company's name.

To enable these different users to act on behalf of the company, the company can create an organization profile in the portal site. Different individuals are then granted access to the organization profile as authorized users.

When an authorized user selects an organization profile, they can access the instruments and tasks for that organization and act as users in the customer role. All actions are performed on behalf of the organization, making it the primary applicant for any instruments.

Every authorized user of an organization has the same level of access to the organization's instruments. Authorized users are granted the permissions that are defined for users in the customer role.

Note: An individual portal user can be associated with multiple organizations as an authorized user. If a user belongs to more than one organization, they can select the profile of any organization that they belong to.

As a user switches between different profiles, the work done in each profile remains separate. For example, a contractor might be an authorized user for two different companies, ACME and BCME. When the user selects the ACME profile in Rhythm for Civics, any payments that the user makes apply to fees for that profile only, and the transactions remain separate from the transactions for the BCME profile.
