Password reset options

You can allow users to reset their own passwords in Rhythm for Civics.
Note: The password reset functionality is not supported if you have configured a single sign on provider for your portal.

See Single sign on configuration.

To allow users to reset their own passwords, browse to the Setup > Login node in the Portal configuration and set the Allow Forgot Password attribute to True.

To reset their password, a user can click the Forgot Password link in the Login widget. The Reset Password widget is then displayed.

See Reset Password widget.

You can select one of these options to allow users to reset their passwords:

  • The portal sends the user a one-time passcode by email or text.
  • The portal emails a temporary password to the user.
  • The user must answer their security questions.

One-time passcode

To use one-time passcodes when users request to reset their passwords, select the Portal User > Reset Password node in the Portal configuration. Set the Enable Reset Password Using Passcode attribute to True and specify the notification method to use (email or SMS).

See Portal User node.

A temporary passcode will be sent using the specified notification method. After the user enters the passcode in the Reset Password widget, they can enter a new password.

If the passcode functionality is not enabled, you can use the Reset Password widget's configuration to specify the password reset method.

See Configuring widgets.

Temporary password

To send a temporary password when a user requests to reset their password, open the configuration for the Reset Password widget and select Email temporary password. The Enable Reset Password Using Passcode attribute must be set to False. An email with a temporary password will be sent using the ResetPortalPassword template, which is one of the default notification templates in Infor Public Sector.

See Notifications.

Security questions

If you select Reset on page as the password reset method in the Reset Password widget, users must first answer their security questions, and they can then enter their new passwords in the portal. Rhythm for Civics sends a notification of the password change using the PortalPasswordChanged template.

Note: This option is only supported if your site uses security questions (the Requires Question and Answer attribute on the Portal User node in the Portal configuration is set to True).

reCaptcha

You can also configure the Reset Password widget to require reCaptcha for resetting passwords.

See Configuring reCaptcha.
