Resetting passwords

Users' passwords can be reset in Infor Public Sector, and you can also allow users to reset their own passwords.

You can use the Contact InfoViewer in Infor Public Sector to reset portal users' passwords. Open the correct contact information record, click the Portal Account link, then click Action and select Reset Password.

Rhythm for Civics can also be configured to allow users to reset their own passwords.

Note: The password reset functionality is not supported if you have configured a single sign on provider for Rhythm for Civics.

See Single sign on configuration.

To allow users to reset their own passwords, browse to the Setup > Login node in the Portal configuration and set the Allow Forgot Password attribute to True. When a user clicks the Forgot Password link in the Login widget, the Reset Password widget is displayed.

The process of resetting passwords also depends on whether the portal site is configured to use security questions. If your site doesn't use security questions (the Requires Question and Answer attribute on the Portal User node in the Portal configuration is set to False), then a temporary password will be emailed to the user.

If you are using security questions, there are two options. In the Reset Password widget's configuration you can select the method that you want to use to reset passwords: Reset on page or Email temporary password.

See Configuring widgets.

If you select Reset on page, users must answer their security questions, and they can then enter their new passwords in the portal. Rhythm for Civics sends a notification of the password change using the PortalPasswordChanged template, which is one of the default notification templates in Infor Public Sector.

Note: This option is only supported if your site uses security questions.

If you select Email temporary password an email with a temporary password will be sent using the ResetPortalPassword template.

See Notifications.

You can also require reCaptcha for resetting passwords.

See Configuring reCaptcha.
