Reporting on a hierarchy

After you have created a hierarchy, you are required to make it available for reporting and filtering.

This example describes the procedure to create a Summary Report, but it can also be used for:

  • Reference Link
  • Summary Link
  • Summary Query
  • Detail Query

To create an example Summary Report from your hierarchy:

  1. Select Summary Report. The Summary Report window is displayed.
  2. Select the product (Q&A DataLink Server) to report against, then select the business unit hierarchy.
  3. Select LA\Ledger in the Table field.
  4. Populate these mandatory filters:
    • Ledger with A
    • Account Code Range with 10000 to 13000
    • Accounting Period with 2005/001 to 2005/001
  5. Specify these query outputs:
    • LA\Account Code
    • LA\Accounting Period
    • LA\Base Amount
    • LA\Transaction Amount
    • LA\Currency Code
    • LA\Hierarchy: Currency Code

    The filter section of the query is populated by creating a mandatory filter based on the selected Hierarchy in the output selection.

  6. Double-click the Hierarchy: Currency Code field and select either a parent or child node.
  7. Click OK to run the query.
